There is no need for batteries; power to Accu-Chek Smart Pix is provided via the USB port.
The PCs operating system must provide full USB support; therefore Microsoft® Windows® 2000 (Service Pack 4) or Microsoft® XP (Home or Professional) must be used. Older operating systems do not provide the needed USB support.
